For those like me whose first excursion in being a record collector was buying my first 45.It was always a bonus when you bought a 45 if the flip or b side had a good song on it.I have decided to do a feature hou on Kalamunda fm on June 29th at 4pm on some of the classic flips of the rock n roll and early sixties era. What inspired me was the three volumes put out by ace records called fabulous flips volumes 1-3.I have decided to mainly feature songs which were flip sides that were picked up by other other artists. So how well do you know your flip sides.can you answer the following questions.

1.what johnny burnette song did merv Benton record
2.what was the flip to chan Romero's hippy hippy shake
3.what larry Williams song did the beatles take to the us charts.
4.which shirelles song did the beatles record.
5.what was the b side to the rays silhouettes
6.which jerrl lee lewis song did cliff have a hit in 1962
7.peggy march had a hit with hello heartache but here in oz we liked the b side.what was it.
8.both nazereth and jim Capaldi had a hit with which roy orbison flip.
9.carl perkins blue suede shoes was the a side but we know his b side as well.
10.billy adams had a hit with which eddie quinteros song.
11.name the original a side for hank ballard's the twist
12.which chuck berry flip provided johnny rivers with his first hit.
13.wishin' and hopin by dionne warwick was the flip side to her third single.what was it.
14.what do benny spellmen the rolling stones and the throb nave in common.
15.which johnny okeefe song wast the b side tofJackie wilsons 45 hearts.

all will be revealed on Wednesday 29th.

Re #5 Interesting to note that when the Rays "Silhouettes" / "Daddy Cool" was released by The Diamonds that the legendary white group covered not only "Silhouettes" but also backed it with a cover of "Daddy Cool" on the flip.

Re # 2 Chan Romero "My Little Ruby" / " I Don't Care Now" (Au Columbia DO 4123) and "Hippy Hippy Shake" / "If I Had A Way" (Au Columbia DO 4124) were released simultaneously 16 Feb (17 April in W.A) 1960. Highly unusual though not isolated action from EMI....probabably to capitalise on Romero's tour of Australia for Lee Gordon. A good week for r'n'r with "Reveille Rock" for Johnny & Hurricanes and Jerry Lee Lewis' "Little Queenie" also released that week.
